Nashik | October 31, 2025: Divisional Commissioner and Chairman of the Nashik–Trimbakeshwar Simhastha Kumbh Mela Authority, Dr. Praveen Gedam, has directed all executing agencies that have received administrative and technical approvals for their respective projects to fast-track their tendering processes. He emphasized that other departments should also expedite their approvals and tender procedures to ensure timely completion of all works related to the upcoming Simhastha Kumbh Mela.
A comprehensive review meeting on the planning and current status of various Kumbh Mela projects was jointly chaired by Dr. Gedam and Kumbh Mela Commissioner Shekhar Singh. The meeting was attended by District Collector Ayush Prasad, Municipal Commissioner Manisha Khatri, Police Commissioner Sandeep Karnik, Special Inspector General of Police Dattatraya Karale, Zilla Parishad CEO Omkar Pawar, Additional Municipal Commissioner Karishma Nair, and Superintendent of Police Balasaheb Patil, along with senior officials from multiple departments.
During the meeting, detailed discussions were held regarding the works proposed by departments such as the Nashik Municipal Corporation, Public Health Department, Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company (MSEDCL), Police, Public Works Department, and the Water Resources Department. The review included information on the administrative and technical approvals, tender announcements, and progress of ongoing and completed works.
Drawing references from the arrangements made during the previous Simhastha Kumbh Mela in Nashik and the recently concluded Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, the officials deliberated on the current master plan and its execution strategy. Dr. Gedam informed that every project related to the Kumbh Mela will be closely monitored through a Project Management Monitoring System (PMMS). The system will track all ongoing works in real time, ensuring transparency and accountability. He further directed all departments to take a holistic approach while implementing their respective plans and ensure full compliance with approved proposals.
Key issues discussed included transportation management for devotees, accommodation for saints and seers, facilities at the Sadhugram (saints’ settlement), arrangements for officers and staff during the Mela period, crowd control in vehicle-free zones, availability of essential amenities, and measures to maintain law and order.
Dr. Gedam urged all agencies to accelerate their pace of work and maintain strict coordination to ensure the timely readiness of all infrastructure and facilities. Department-wise presentations were also made during the session to review the progress and identify areas requiring immediate attention.
