Big News About Ladki Bahin Yojana: New Criteria Announced by Government

Mumbai (Representative): The verification process for disqualification under the Ladki Bahin Yojana is ongoing across the state, and many women may no longer be eligible for its benefits. After the conclusion of the assembly elections, the implementation of strict eligibility criteria for the scheme has begun. Amidst this, the ruling Mahayuti Government in Maharashtra has introduced new guidelines for the scheme’s beneficiaries.

Huge Savings for the Government Every Year:
A major shock awaits lakhs for women benefiting from the Maharashtra government’s Mukhyamantri Ladki Bahin Yojana. The number of women included in the scheme may reduce by 9 lakh, while 5 lakh names have already been removed due to prior government actions. Now, another 4 lakh women will be excluded, leading to a savings of ₹945 crore for the state government.

Who is Eligible and Who is Not?
To continue receiving benefits under this scheme, e-KYC verification will now be mandatory every June to confirm that the beneficiary is alive. Additionally:

  • Women already receiving benefits from any other government scheme will be disqualified.
  • Women with an annual income exceeding ₹2.5 lakh will not be eligible.
  • If Aadhaar is not linked to the scheme, the applicant will not receive financial benefits.

New Criteria for the Ladki Bahin Yojana
✅ Beneficiary women must complete e-KYC every year in June and submit proof of being alive.
✅ e-KYC is mandatory between June 1 and July 1 every year.
✅ Women with an annual income above ₹2.5 lakh will be disqualified.
✅ Income details will be verified with the Income Tax Department.
✅ Benefits will be provided from the month following the approval of the application.
✅ If there is a mismatch between the applicant’s name and the bank account details, the applicant will be disqualified.
✅ Women whose Aadhaar is not linked to the scheme will be removed.
✅ Women availing benefits from the Namo Scheme or the Disability Department’s schemes will receive a combined total of ₹1,500.

These new rules indicate a stricter approach by the government to ensure that only genuinely eligible women receive the benefits of the scheme.
