Nashik (Correspondent): If you are traveling on the Mumbai-Nashik highway, here’s an important update for you. From Monday (24th), the Old Kasara Ghat on the Nashik-Mumbai highway will be closed for traffic from 8 AM to 6 PM for the next six days.
The old Kasara Ghat will remain shut in two phases for road repair work. The traffic block will be enforced daily from 8 AM to 6 PM. The closure will take place from Monday (24th) to Thursday (27th) and again from March 3rd to March 6th for road repairs and pre-monsoon preparations. During this period, traffic heading towards Nashik via the old Kasara Ghat will be completely restricted.
Traffic to Be Diverted Through the New Kasara Ghat:
Traffic heading towards Nashik will be diverted through the new Kasara Ghat on the Mumbai-Nashik lane, as per the administration. Commuters might experience some inconvenience during these days. Additionally, rock formations and old massive trees in the old Kasara Ghat will be removed as part of the maintenance work.
Heavy Vehicles Completely Banned:
Since the old Kasara Ghat will be closed for repairs, light vehicles will be rerouted through the new Kasara Ghat. However, heavy vehicles will be strictly prohibited on this route and will be redirected via the Mumbai-Pune Expressway.
Help Centers to Be Set Up in the New Kasara Ghat:
Considering the road repair work and the resulting traffic diversion, authorities have assured that travelers on the Mumbai-Nashik-Shirdi route will receive assistance if needed. Kasara Police, Highway Police from Ghoti and Shahapur centers, and disaster management teams will be stationed in the new Kasara Ghat. Moreover, police personnel and help centers will be set up at various points to assist travelers, as confirmed by the administration.
