Nashik (Correspondent): A police inspector of Navapur Police Station has been caught red-handed by a team of the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) while accepting a bribe of Rs. 50000 after demanding a bribe of 2.5 lakh rupees.
The police inspector who took the bribe has been identified as Dnyaneshwar Laxman Vare, 49, (R/o Upanagar, Nashik Road). Further information in this regard is that a case of ‘Prohibition’ was registered against the complainant in Songad police station, falling in the Tapi district of Gujarat state. A team of the local crime branch of Tapi Police Station reached Navapur police station to investigate this crime. At that time, In-charge of Navapur Police Station, Dnyaneshwar Vare, helped the complainant to avoid arrest by becoming a mediator between the both parties.
In return, Vare demanded a bribe of Rs 2,50,000 from the complainant’s friend through the complainant. At that time, on March 5, 2024, the complainant out of fear, paid one lakh as a bribe to Police Inspector Dnyaneshwar Vare. After that, Police Inspector Dnyaneshwar Vare demanded the other lakh and a half rupees. Thus, the complainant complained about the same with the Anti-Corruption Department in Nashik. After negotiations, Vare agreed to accept another Rs 50000 from the complainant as a settlement. While Vare was caught red-handed accepting the amount of Rs. 50000.
A case was registered against him at Nabapur police station. This action was undertaken by Police Inspector Sandeep Ghuge, Police Naik Ganesh Nimbalkar, and Police Constable Nitin Netare under the guidance of Superintendent of Police, ACB, Sharmistha Walavalkar, Additional Superintendent Madhav Reddy, and Deputy Superintendent Narendra Pawar.
