
Nashik (Correspondent): In a shocking incident, Karan Umesh Chaure (17), a resident of Sant Kabir Nagar slum and a suspect in the recent murder of Arun Ram Bandi, was brutally killed in broad daylight on Monday (April 28). The attack occurred near the crematorium in Kamathwade, where five to six assailants fatally assaulted Karan with stones and pieces of tile. The incident has caused widespread panic in the area.
On the night of March 8, Arun Bandi was murdered by a gang in Sant Kabir Nagar. Karan had been detained in connection with that case and sent to a juvenile detention center due to his age. However, he was released on bail on April 19.
After his release, Karan’s brother Akash advised him to leave the city. Ignoring this advice, Karan decided to stay with a friend in the Kamathwade CIDCO area. Meanwhile, the suspects tracked him down and ultimately executed their plan to kill him.
Around noon on Monday, while Karan was walking along the Kamathwade crematorium road, the attackers surrounded and severely beat him. He was struck in the head with stones and tiles, sustaining fatal injuries. Karan died on the spot. The attackers fled immediately after committing the murder.
Upon receiving information about the incident, Ambad Police acted swiftly. Under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner of Police Monika Raut and Assistant Commissioner of Police Shekhar Deshmukh, teams from Crime Branch Unit-1 and Unit-2 launched an investigation.
Police constables Prashant Markad and Vishal Kathe from Crime Branch Unit-1 received a tip-off that the accused were hiding near the Asaram Bapu Bridge in Gangapur. Acting promptly, the crime branch team moved in. On spotting the police vehicle, the suspects attempted to flee, but were successfully apprehended.
The arrested suspects are:
- Mohan Dnyaneshwar Vaichale (18 years, 6 months), resident of Kamgar Nagar, Tiranga Chowk, Satpur, Nashik
- Rahul Raju Gadade (20 years), resident of Anandvalli, near rickshaw stand, Nashik, originally from Nandur Kondar, Tal. Nandgaon, Dist. Nashik
- Sahil Pintu Jadhav (21 years), resident of Anandvalli, Mali Wada, Gangapur Road, Nashik
In addition, two juveniles in conflict with the law were also taken into custody.
During interrogation, all five accused confessed to committing the crime at the behest of notorious criminal Harshad Patankar. The suspects have been handed over to Ambad Police for further legal action.
The swift and efficient operation was carried out under the leadership of Police Commissioner Sandeep Karnik, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Prashant Bachhav, and Assistant Commissioner of Police (Crime) Sandeep Mitke. The investigating team included Senior Police Inspector Madhukar Kad (Crime Branch Unit-1), Assistant Police Inspector Hiramann Bhoye, PSI Chetan Shrivant, Sudam Sangle, Constables Pravin Waghmare, Pradeep Mhasde, Sandeep Bhand, Prashant Markad, Vishal Kathe, Nazim Khan Pathan, Yogiraj Gaikwad, Rohidas Lilke, Police Naik Vishal Devre, Milindsingh Pardeshi, Police Constables Muktar Shaikh, Amol Koshti, Ram Burde, Woman Police Constable Anuja Yelave, Driver Constables Sukam Pawar and Samadhan Pawar.
