On Monday, May 26, heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected in the Konkan districts of Mumbai, Thane, Raigad, and Palghar. Thunderstorms accompanied by strong winds and extremely heavy downpours are also likely in isolated places.
Mumbai and Thane witnessed intense rainfall since early morning. Given the forecast for very heavy rain in Raigad, local authorities have urged residents to remain alert. Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg, the coastal districts of the state, have been experiencing continuous rainfall for the past three days, with heavy showers expected to continue for the next few hours.
In western Maharashtra, the IMD has warned of heavy rainfall in the hilly regions of Pune, Kolhapur, Satara, and Ahilyanagar districts. Meanwhile, in North Maharashtra, districts like Dhule, Nandurbar, and Jalgaon may see light to moderate showers along with thunder. The hilly areas of Nashik and nearby regions are also likely to experience gusty winds and intense rain.
Parts of Marathwada and Vidarbha are expected to receive light to moderate rainfall with strong winds. In light of the forecast, the IMD has advised citizens to avoid unnecessary travel and remain in safe locations.
