Nashik | May 22, 2025: A devastating fire broke out at Jindal Polyfilms, located in the Mundegaon area along the Mumbai-Agra Highway, approximately 31 kilometers from Nashik city, in the early hours of Tuesday (May 20), around 1:30 AM. Two workers sustained injuries in the incident, and firefighting efforts have been underway continuously for over 24 hours.
Despite more than 100 rounds by 22 fire engines, the blaze remained uncontrolled as of late Wednesday night. Preliminary reports suggest an electrical short circuit may have triggered the fire, though a technical investigation is underway, according to the company management.
The fire is believed to have originated in a shed behind Gate No. 4, where raw materials were stored. Workers quickly activated fire safety systems and evacuated the premises. Although the flames were briefly brought under control on Wednesday morning, they flared up again by afternoon, spreading across all three company units.
Additional fire engines from Nashik, Ahilyanagar, Thane, and Bhiwandi were called in to support the ongoing operations. The blaze continues to smolder, and emergency teams are striving to contain it fully.
Thick smoke billowing from the site attracted a crowd of onlookers, including motorists passing along the Mumbai-Agra Highway. However, highway traffic remained largely unaffected. Vehicles used for goods transport within the company premises were promptly removed and safely parked along the highway under police supervision.
