Nashik (Correspondent): The CITILINC administration has issued a warning that misuse of the emergency (panic) button installed in city buses will now invite penal action.
To strengthen public transport in Nashik, the Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC) established the Nashik Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Ltd. (NMPML), which operates CITILINC bus services across the city and in areas up to 20 kilometers from city limits. Every day, lakhs of commuters benefit from this service.
For the safety and security of passengers, an emergency button has been installed in each bus as well as on the official mobile application. This feature is intended to ensure immediate assistance in case of serious issues during travel.
However, the administration has observed a growing trend of passengers pressing the emergency button unnecessarily—often out of mere curiosity. This misuse is causing undue inconvenience to drivers, conductors, and control room staff.
More concerningly, it may delay assistance to those genuinely in need during an emergency.
In light of this, the CITILINC administration has decided to impose penalties on passengers found misusing the emergency button. Authorities have urged commuters to use the emergency feature responsibly and only in genuine situations requiring help.
